Key Difference Between CV AND RESUME

Students frequently ask whether they should use a resume or a CV when applying for jobs, and often they use the words 'resume' and 'CV' interchangeably. Before you start applying for jobs, you will need to determine which one is appropriate for you.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CV AND RESUME.

What is CV (Curriculum Vitae)?

According to the advanced learner's Directory of contemporary English, A CV is a record of your education and employment that you send when you are applying for a job. But a more comprehensive meaning of a CV mean life history.

However for clarity sake, i think a more precise definition of a CV will not be a bad idea.

A CV is a biographic representation of your Name, Sex, Address, Phone number, Email address, Educational background, work experience, Research work, Affiliation, Honors and Hobbies.

RESUME.
A resume on the other hand is a functional or skill based CV and it's usually called a targeted CV, because it lay emphasis more of the skills and experience of the applicant than it does of the applicants educational background. A resume is mostly acceptable outside the shores of Africa especially America and Europe.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CV AND RESUME
They both looks similar but for the sake of clarity, it'll be judicious to enumerate the difference between a CV and RESUME.

1) A resume is briefer
2) A resume contains job objective statement
3) A resume de-emphasizes your education.
4) A resume emphasized on your skills and experience.
5) In a resume, skills and experience come first.
6) A resume is incomplete but more precise and persuasive.
7) Reference should be avoided in resumes but could be included in your CV.
8) A Resume must not exceed one A4 sheet while a CV must be in at least two A4 sheets.

Now that you understand the differences between CV and Resume. I implore you also to know the purpose of  CV/RESUME. THEY ARE!

1) TO MAKE YOU ATTRACTIVE
2) TO MAKE YOU INTERESTING
3) TO YOU WORTH CONSIDERING
4) TO RECEIVE AN INVITATION FOR A JOB INTERVIEW OR TEST AS THE CASE MAY BE.
